I'm a computer science student at UCLA currently fixated on chess engines, systems programming, and neural networks. I build things that are fast, low-level, and probably more complicated than they need to be, while also coming up with terrible names for them.
PZChessBot is a C++ chess engine written completely from scratch, currently rated around 3720 CCRL Blitz and playing at tournaments like the Top Chess Engine Championship and the Chess.com Computer Chess Championship.
PZChessBot uses advanced alpha-beta search with an Efficiently Updatable Neural Network (NNUE) trained entirely on self-play data. It also supports Syzygy tablebases, multithreading up to 512 threads, and transposition tables up to 256 GB.
PZChessBot was developed by me, who wrote search, NNUE inference, and trained over 50 iterations of neural networks for evaluation; and William Ma, who wrote move generation, board handling (such as making moves), and SIMD optimization.
PZOJ is an online judge and contest platform built for competitive programming.
It was started as a hackathon project, and uses Next.js for its frontend, Express.js for its backend, and C++ to run and judge submitted code.
Most of my programming is in C++, particularly performance-sensitive applications. I also work with Python, JavaScript, and x86 Intel-flavor assembly.
Outside of programming, I play chess, produce and listen to music (hard techno and hardstyle forever!), and write about whatever piques my interest on int0x80.ca
I achieved USACO Gold (2025) and CCC Senior Group 2 (2026). I've also organized several contests of my own and helped test countless contests on Codeforces.
