Linux

Describe the bug

Sometimes when I try to open the Page of a Mod in Modrinth App, I get an error saying "Too many requests, retry in X minutes and Y seconds" (X and Y are filled in numbers). These timeouts can go really high like over 100 minutes. This behavior occurs pretty random, but most times after coming from longer sessions in Minecraft back to the launcher and trying to update some mods.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start Modrinth App and play Minecraft with a few mods (like Create) for at least an hour. Keep Modrinth open.
  2. Close Minecraft
  3. Go in Modrinth to your instance.
  4. Select a project of choice. For example the Create Mod.
  5. You now get no errors or the following two:
    a. Too many requests, retry in 4 minutes and 31 seconds.
    b. Error loading project.

Note: This session was about 2 hours, and the timeout was initially about 18 minutes.

Expected behavior

No Timeout Error

Additional context

  • If you wait to the end of the timeout, the timeout resolves as expected and you can use Modrinth again.
  • I sometime saw how a page reloaded with a rate of possibly 5 times per second, which could be related to this problem.
